America Loves a Good Whore

Ashley Alexandra Dupre is the most famous woman in America right now. Why? Because she was paid to have sex with a politician, and not only was he married, but he had been cracking down on prostitution rings. Talk about a hypocrite! Spitzer is out of the office, and his career is ruined forever. Now, we're left with Ms. Dupre and her 14.9999 minutes of fame. She's already receiving offers of $1 million to pose naked in Hustler. I'm sure Hef will be offering her money for a spread as well. She will be on every talk show, telling her side of the story. She will be paid millions of dollars for photographs, magazine articles, and book deals. America loves a good whore, and they especially love one in a very public sex scandal. I'm sure she will come out with some sob story about how she had a bad childhood, and father issues, etc. She will be on the cover of People, smiling with the title, "I had sex for money because Daddy didn't love me!" And, people will buy it. We'll feel bad for her, and we'll excuse her for her disreputable behavior. SNL will bring her in on a sketch to make fun of herself, and we'll all say, "It's great that she has a sense of humor about it." Or, "She looks great. I can't believe she was a prostitute. That poor girl." She will be like chum in the water, and the media will feed on her in a frenzy. She will be the "It girl" of the year. And, what did she do to get all her fame? She prostituted herself to the right guy. She won the whore lottery. And like all the other famous scandalous women before her like Jessica Hahn, Donna Rice, and Monica Lewinsky, she will be the name that sells the most newspapers and books.
